Education Viewport is published by Eric Miller.

I have been teaching in the Seattle Public Schools for over a decade. I currently teach 6th grade social studies, with a focus on geography and ancient history, on an inclusion team.

Much of my teaching career has revolved around educational technology. In 2001 – 2002, I participated in the Teacher Leadership Project, first as a teacher and then as a instructor. Using the grant funds, I developed the Virtual Colonies Project, which was featured on Microsoft’s Innovative Teachers web site (.ppt link).

In 2005, I began working as an Instructional Technology Specialist for the Seattle Schools. However, after two years I decided I preferred working directly with students so I returned to work in the classroom. I continue to support teachers as the on-site Education Technologist and I support my school’s web site.

In March 2010, I was awarded a Qwest Foundation Teaching & Technology Grant. I am using the grant funds to purchase a class set of iPod Touches. I began this blog to reflect on my efforts to integrate the iPods into my curriculum.
